We kick off the beginning of our ‘future of fuel’ blog series with a blog from Pelican Bus & Coach, all about the latest Yutong technology and role of electric vehicles in offering customers sustainable travel options.

Pelican Bus & Coach is the sole UK and Ireland importer and distributor for YUTONG Buses and Coaches. Yutong, the world‘s largest electric bus manufacturer, has been building electric buses since 1999. With almost 600 diesel Yutong vehicles operating in the UK and Ireland, the brand is an established supplier.
Using electric vehicles means operators can reduce their impact on the planet, offering customers a sustainable travel option whilst also offering a better customer experience. Working in partnership with Zenobe Energy, Pelican are able to deliver a real push button solution, encompassing financing, solar energy, infrastructure and vehicles making the transition to electric an attractive proposition for operators.
Last year we introduced the first zero emission, fully electric coach in the UK, the Yutong TCe12. These vehicles are now operating as far apart as London to Dundee with excellent feedback from operators and passengers. The Yutong TCe12 has just become the first ever coach to be certified as an Ultra-Low Emission Bus, which means that it is eligible to receive the 30 pence/kilometre BSOG Low Emission Vehicle (LEV) incentive payment in Scotland.
Other firsts include supplying the first zero emission bus fleet in Wales to Newport transport. The fifteen E12 fully electric buses represent over 10% of Newport’s fleet. We were also thrilled to supply the first zero-emission, electric bus fleet in West Yorkshire to First Group Leeds and Go Ahead North East with deliveries to Scottish operators well underway.
